They are many and they are ignorant. Ignorant of their inspiration and ultimate help in my humble efforts in designing for the web. Their work is evident in much of what I do and implement on these pages and elsewhere. There is always somebody who has “been there, done that”. Lewis and Clark must have felt pretty small when they travelled through a wilderness believed by many to be up for grabs. But mothers were feeding their infants, kids were at play and the elders were discussing philosophy in the snug winter camps. So, if I beg, borrow and steal in my creative struggles, it is only to compensate for my own lack of imagination, for an inspirational void, and for the constant fear of falling wayside should I try to come to grips with the rules of CSS by knocking on the door of the Consortium itself. Thanks are long overdue for all those tips, tricks and techniques published out there by known, lesser known and anonymous people who care to share their knowledge with the rest of us.
In particular, please note the tip of my hat to Lokesh Dhakar and one of his earlier page designs. He is also the author of the much used (and imitated) Lightbox JavaScript project. Bye-bye, pop-up windows. He even offered two of his bikes for free to anybody who cared to pick them up! Kudos to you, Lokesh. Floating rules.
